Fort Worth Symphony

Wow! I'm very happy to announce that I have been offered the position of Principal Trombonist of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra! Excitement doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about my next year with them. I just hope I can keep up with all of the fine musicians in the group!

Unfortunately, with that excitement comes a bit of trepidation. If you don't know, negotiations between the Dallas AFM union chapter and the management of the symphony are still not going very well. I, and the rest of the symphony musicians and our supporters in the area are hoping for a resolution soon. If you want to help, like the union page on facebook and share it with your friends! The more visible and vocal supporters we have, the easier it will be to resolve the tensions between the two parties, and the sooner everyone can rest easy and focus on the purpose of the Symphony: making excellent music. You can visit their page at the link below.

Howdy! I am back in my home state of Texas after a long summer with Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. The weather was nice and cool up in Michigan, but it is time to brave the heat again for the next two years as I begin my Master's program at Rice University!

I will begin teaching and freelancing in the Houston metroplex area this semester. Please contact me via email at johnromeromusic@gmail.com if you wish to speak with me about lessons, playing gigs, or you just want to say the trombone is awesome.

New Website Launch

As I go into my graduate studies and get closer to a professional career in music, I thought it was about time I get a website of my own.

Welcome to JohnRomeroMusic.com!

Here, you will find my latest recordings and news, as well as a current biography and contact information. I hope to update regularly with performance dates and information in the news feed.

I will be out of contact for most of the summer, as I will be working as a staff member for the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan. I'm excited about this opportunity to work with the younger students here and enjoy the great outdoors! But it is largely a non-technology environment, which means I'll be able to check my emails about once every two weeks.

Before I leave for camp, however, I will be in Rochester, New York, at the Eastman School of Music, competing in the finals for the ITA Alto trombone solo competition.  I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonderful performers, competitors, and exhibits at this years ITF.
